About Us Dee Cameron

Dee Cameron

When I started the Melbourne based CVW & Associates in 1980 with partners Weston and Vernon we were a fledgling owner/partner trio who would quickly grow to a company of 25. These were the halycon days of large A/V companies with in-house art departments, theatrettes, glass bricked foyers, boardrooms and large overheads.

These years allowed me to work on a diverse range of products for a huge number of multi-national companies both in Australia and some with representation in Hong Kong, Malaysia, China and Japan. In 1991 I started The Dee Cameron Company in Sydney as a boutique production house to continue working in the corporate market but expanding into broadcast television documentary. It was intensely satisfying creatively producing every project, having the mobility to work at short notice all over the world, with the freedom to choose the collaborators most perfect for each unique project. I had worked on ‘pet-food, paint, chocolate bars, cars and soap-powder” and thought I needed some projects with a deeper human message. I became involved in some community based documentary projects which led to my Logie Award winning film Facing the Demons. Several other documentary projects followed resulting in a USA sponsored documentary shot in Pennsylvania and The Netherlands. I learned there is a human message in most communications if they are heartfelt and the perceptions I had of corporate communication and documentary being totally separate was not totally true. The essence of any communication is to find authenticity for the audience, and to tell the story from the heart. This applies to social commentary documentary as much as it does corporate communications.

2005 sees the rebranding of these communication values into Company dee.
